Testimonials

I contracted Alistair to research our family history. The intention was a gift for my mothers 85th birthday. Little was known about my Mother or Father's families. I couldn’t have been happier with the result. A beautiful book documenting our family history. The attention to detail was incredible. I have no idea how he managed to source the data and photographs that were included! Alistair shared an articulate and amusing commentary. I was thrilled!

However, the highlight for me was my Mother’s reaction when presented with the gift and the lasting effect ever since she received this. She was tearful and said it was the most thoughtful gift she could imagine. My mother now keeps this book close to her favourite chair in her living room. She never bores of reading this on a daily basis. It’s brought her a huge amount of pleasure during what’s been a very isolating and tough time (COVID). Thank you Alistair!

Alistair came up quickly with references in picture and written form to two Irish families hoping, in vain, to find a common ancestor in one line, only to find a tenuous link in another.  An “inspector of butter” in 18th Century Cork was a great find!

I have really appreciated Alistair's professional approach to the task of tracing my family history. All sorts of intriguing bits of information have come to light, and they have been clearly and helpfully presented. Alistair clearly takes pride and pleasure in his work.

'After seeing an example of Alistair’s work at a friend’s in the form of a wedding book, it made me think about the possibility of the same for my Mother.  She had lost her father whilst her mother was pregnant with her, so her father’s history was always of great interest to her. The book proved a lovely gift for her 75th birthday.  She was pleasantly surprised and shocked beyond words! After reading the book a few times she said, “I have been reading through my lovely book of ancestors again and have realised that each time that I read it I learn more. I was always aware of the Jewish connection on my paternal grand-dad's side but I didn’t know that they originated from Germany. On reading it again I find that my paternal grand-mother’s family also originated from Germany. We live in a country that has been conquered by and given shelter to many nationalities which means British is a jumble of all sorts.”

Thank you to Alistair for making my Mother’s birthday present something that she will cherish forever and pass on.’

"I asked Alistair to try and find the descendants of the siblings of my German great grandfather.  I had tried before and it is not an easy task due to name changes and a family that has moved multiple times between England and Germany.  Not only has he found those descendants, he's put us in touch with each other and we're all so pleased to share our knowledge of our combined family tree.  We're even thinking of having an extended family reunion.

In addition, Alistair has found more ancestors we didn't know about and my family tree has been populated with more than 200 additional people - quite a feat!"

"Our coffee table book takes pride of place in our new home as a married couple. Blake Court has perfectly documented the meaning and family connections behind our wedding day at St. Augustines College, Canterbury through written family history, reports, letters, anecdotes and photography. What an amazing way to preserve our story and to share it with others. Alistair's skill and expertise is truly reflected in this amazing record, which we will cherish always."

"I am so grateful to Alistair for his outstanding work in tracing my family history. He compiled a wonderful book for me, tracing my family back to the 1500s. Incredible! I will treasure it forever. To my surprise and delight, Alistair was able to find a photograph that I had never seen before……that of my grandfather's twelve siblings along with my great grandparents. I had never seen these family members before so it was very moving indeed. Alistair has an incredible talent for genealogy and has tremendous tenacity and enthusiasm for the job in hand. He leaves no stone unturned in his quest to uncover all the amazing stories associated with a family line. Thank you so much."

“Alistair's ability and prowess in approaching the daunting task of tackling a Family History is par excellent. He has a most methodical mind and that coupled with thoroughness and tenacity to stay with the task to conclusion is beyond reproach. He is a most efficient taskmaster.  Whoever engages him will not be disappointed.”

“Alistair researched my mother’s family tree for me – no easy task given the multiple spellings of two ancient West Country names.  He came up with some interesting finds and leads which have inspired me, in turn, to dig further into my family’s past.”

“Alistair,

I wanted to offer my sincere thanks for the exhaustive body of information that you have amassed regarding our family history.

The variety of forms….newspaper articles, census records, military records,  poetry and even connections to famous people is quite impressive.

I will now be able to pass on a better understanding of our lineage to my two daughters.

All the best to you and thanks again.”

“Alistair helped me with some important corrections to my own research, particularly with regard to dates and even found for me a picture of my Grandfather in a boat in Scotland. Much to my surprise he informed me that I am a distant cousin of Bobby Orr and even proved it for me by describing the lineage connection. We went to visit Bobby's Hall of Fame this past summer and we are very proud to be part of this amazing family.

My wish someday is to meet Alistair in England and Canada.

Thank you Alistair for all of your help.”

Sincerely,

Carol from Canada.

“When I retired I began to research my family history.  I made a certain amount of progress but eventually ran into a wall and was unable to make further progress on my own. Alistair helped me discover many relations in one branch of my family going back to the late 1700's about which I had known very little.”

Jim Kelly, Dublin, Ireland

"I can't thank Alistair enough. With his professional help, I managed to trace my grandmother's extended family from Tarbert, Scotland. I have now made connections with distant relations I previously knew nothing about."
Judi Soussi, Argyll, Scotland

Alistair rewarded our family with an excellent compilation when he researched our family history. His enthusiasm and interest made it a great pleasure to work with him; and what he has given us is a treasure.

When I heard about a research project concerning my great grandfather I was thrilled. Many people in my extended family, including myself, contributed our birthdates, anniversaries and photographs. I couldn't wait to see the finished project!  It was amazing! Quite a treasure, which I am very grateful for! Alistair was very thorough in his research and did a wonderful job.
